MouthX is a custom-made device designed to fit your mouth with precision. That’s why, before we manufacture it, we always conduct a dental assessment to ensure your mouth is in optimal condition for its use.
Below, we explain in simple terms the dental conditions that may prevent or limit the use of MouthX. Please note: this is general guidance. The final decision always belongs to your dental professional.
Conditions that prevent the use of MouthX
If you present any of the following conditions, your dentist may recommend addressing them before moving forward:
-
Missing key teeth: If you don’t have enough teeth to support the device, we can’t guarantee its proper function.
-
Active orthodontic treatment (braces or aligners): If your teeth are still moving, the shape of your mouth is not yet stable.
-
Severe jaw pain or dysfunction (TMJ): If opening or closing your mouth causes significant discomfort, it's best to wait.
-
Advanced periodontal disease: When the gums are heavily damaged and the teeth are unstable.
-
Active maxillary/mandibular osteonecrosis: A serious bone condition that requires specialized care.
-
Severe neuromotor difficulties: If you are unable to control your tongue or jaw movements properly.
-
Mixed dentition (children/adolescents): If you still have baby teeth or are transitioning to permanent ones.
Conditions that require individual evaluation
In these cases, the dentist will decide whether you can use MouthX depending on the specific condition of your mouth:
-
Thin or receding gums (thin periodontium or gingival recession): Gums may be more delicate.
-
Mild to moderate gum disease (with no dental mobility): May be viable if your teeth are stable.
-
Deep bite (vertical overbite greater than 5 mm): When the upper teeth significantly cover the lower ones.
-
Active cavities in key supporting teeth (premolars or molars): It depends on which tooth is affected.
Why is this evaluation so important?
The device rests on specific points in your mouth. Not all teeth are equally important for its function.
For example:
-
If a molar that supports the device is damaged, it may need to be treated first.
-
If the issue is in an area that doesn’t affect the device's fit, it might not be a problem.
What really matters
A personalized dental check-up is essential to ensure that the device fits perfectly and that you can enjoy it safely and comfortably.
If you’re unsure about anything, don’t worry. Our team will support you every step of the way—and if needed, we’ll help you coordinate the dental evaluation.
