Real Stories

Some stories go beyond the pages of a book. 'Respirar con el alma' (in English 'Breathing with the soul') is one of them. It is not just the work of Armando Folgado, co-founder of Aurax. It is the reflection of a life that changed in a single second, and that, with courage and creativity, was rebuilt for his loved ones and has inspired many others along the way.

At Aurax, we often speak about innovation, accessibility, and the future. But today we want to pause and focus on what truly matters: recognising and celebrating the strength of a person whose life experience reminds us why we do what we do, and who was, and still is, the inspiration behind our project.

A Testimony That Leaves No One Indifferent

In 2014, a transverse myelitis left Armando pentaplegic and dependent on a respirator.

From that moment on, his life took an unexpected turn. It could have meant the end of his projects and dreams, but when he slowly managed to piece back together what had inevitably been shattered, he chose to turn it into a new beginning.

In 'Respirar con el alma', we see how Armando shares his journey with an honest voice that does not seek pity, but connection.

With the authenticity, closeness, and at times humor that we know so well, he writes about dignity, love, setbacks, and small but powerful victories... reflecting the reality of thousands of people with functional diversity, of families who accompany, of caregivers who support, of communities that resist.

His book opens up a space for dialogue on resilience, inclusion, and the certainty that even when the body stops, life continues.

A Fundamental Pillar in the Development of MouthX and Aurax

Those of us who know Armando understand that his strength goes far beyond telling his story. His perspective has become a driver of innovation: as co-founder of Aurax, he transforms lived experience into technology capable of breaking barriers.

His insights, ideas, and vision have been essential in the development of MouthX, from the very moment when Narcís Codina, also co-founder, asked him a simple question: “What do you need?”.

A question Armando himself admitted no one had asked him before, yet one that should be asked more often if we truly want to build a world that is accessible for all.
