Last June, the Sociedad Española de Paraplejia (Spanish Society of Paraplegia, SEP) and the Asociación Española de Enfermería Especializada en Lesión Medular (Spanish Association of Nursing in Spinal Cord Injury, ASELME) once again brought together professionals from all over the country to share advances, challenges, and real experiences around spinal cord injury care.

This year, we were honored to present MouthX at the XLII Jornadas SEP and take part in such a meaningful event. But the most important thing wasn’t showing what we’ve built: it was sharing it with those who, from nursing, rehab, research or everyday life, have been working toward accessibility from every possible angle.

MouthX: a tool born out of urgent need

Our presentation took place on Friday, June 13. We talked about the story behind MouthX: how it came to be, how we built the first prototypes with input from people with upper-limb mobility challenges, and how that feedback shaped everything.

The response was warm and curious. Professionals from various hospitals came over to learn more, ask clinical questions, and even suggest ideas for new use cases. Beyond the technology itself, what drew interest was the approach: a tool that doesn't aim to replace clinical support, but to expand daily possibilities for real autonomy.

Innovation doesn't happen alone: the value of working together

One of our most powerful takeaways from SEP 2025 was the reminder that spinal cord injury care doesn’t fall on one role alone. From advanced nursing consultations to sessions on neuropathic pain and care planning, it was clear that real progress only happens when disciplines come together.

At Aurax, we feel the same.

Every step we've taken with MouthX has been, and continues to be, the result of collaboration: between technologists, users, clinicians, therapists, and families. We believe technology only becomes transformative when it's co-created.
